Holiday Herbal Hot Apple Cider

What I love about this cider recipe is that it is not too sweet, and it is nourishing for the nervous and your immune systems.

This recipe makes a gallon for your holiday party.

First, make a quart jar of oatstraw infusion. Click here  for instructions on how to make oatstraw infusion. There is also information on the virtues of oatstraw.

Remember, you will get the most of out the Herbal Branch newsletters if you use them as a continuation to the Roots and Branches course.

Next, pour 3 quarts of organic apple juice into a pot. You know, the cloudy kind that comes in the big glass jugs. The good stuff, not the over processed, clear, alar laden generic apple juice. But, if you like that type of juice, I suppose it will work. :)

Then, Add your finished oatstraw infusion.

Also add the following…

  • 4 cinnamon sticks (helpful for the immune system)
  • 2 tsp. of cloves (digestive aid)
  • ¼ tsp. of ground ginger (helpful for the immune system)
  • 8 slices of astragalus root.  (Astragalus is very nourishing for your immune system!)

Bring it to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes.

Ladle the cider into your favorite mug, put in a stick of cinnamon, find a cozy spot in your house and enjoy!

You can strain it, and keep it in the fridge until it’s all gone.

Of course, feel free to play around with the amounts, ingredients, etc…
